About the opportunity
Join the world of luxury hospitality at Fairmont Grand Del Mar as our new Banquet Cook I.
In this role, you will produce all hot and cold food items for service in restaurants and catering functions, ensuring compliance with Fairmont standards and specifications while maintaining strict sanitation, safety, and food waste control procedures.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare food of consistent quality following Fairmont Grand Del Mar standards and SOPs.
- Date all food containers, rotate stock, and ensure perishables are kept at proper temperatures.
- Cook orders as requested, including special requests, and control food waste, loss, and usage.
- Check pars for shift use, determine necessary prep, freezer pulls, and line set-up.
- Perform prep work, cut, trim, and bone meat, and wash, peel, cut, and shred fruits and vegetables.
- Operate carving, pasta, omelet, and stir-fry stations and work all banquet functions.
- Bake, broil, sauté, and steam meats, fish, vegetables, and measure and mix ingredients per recipes.
Qualifications
- Ability to verbally communicate and write effectively in basic English.
- Minimum physical requirements include constant standing and walking, frequent lifting and carrying up to 40 lbs, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, and reaching.
- Ability to read Banquet Event Orders (BEO).
- Valid Food Handler Card.
- Applicants must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
