About the opportunity
- Join Accor as a Banquet Houseperson to maintain complete knowledge of departmental policies, service procedures, standards, and equipment maintenance.
Anticipate guest needs, respond promptly, resolve complaints, and maintain positive guest relations while being familiar with all hotel services and local attractions.
- Review assignment sheets, retrieve and stock clean linen and skirting, stock supply carts, and set up function areas with tables, chairs, staging, dance floors, and tabletop items according to group requirements.
- Inspect all rooms, equipment, and supplies for cleanliness and working condition.
Key responsibilities
- Set up, refresh, and breakdown meeting and banquet rooms according to group requirements and departmental standards, including handling tables, chairs, staging, linens, and tabletop items.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas, storage closets, public spaces, and function areas.
- Clean various floor surfaces, glassware, furniture, woodwork, brass surfaces, lamps, light fixtures, walls, doors, and baseboards using proper chemicals, tools, and equipment.
- Transport clean and soiled linens, equipment, supplies, client packages, and food and beverage trays throughout the hotel.
- Empty trash containers, ashtrays, and vacuum cleaner bags, and ensure nothing is stored in stairwells.
- Accommodate guest requests courteously, report damages or safety hazards to supervisors, assist with inventories, and stock requisitioned supplies.
Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent vocational training certificate.
- Previous experience in a similar position within the hospitality industry.
- Knowledge of various room set-ups, standard equipment involved, proper chemical handling, and cleaning techniques.
- Some English required with a basic understanding of banquet terminology; fluency in English both verbal and non-verbal is preferred, and fluency in a second language, preferably Spanish, is advantageous.
- Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy, prioritize and organize, remain calm, and resolve problems using good judgment.
- Ability to exert physical effort in transporting miscellaneous items weighing 50-100 pounds throughout all areas of the hotel, endure various physical movements, reach 1-2 feet, and remain in a stationary position for 30 minutes.
