As a Barback, you will provide friendly, courteous, helpful, timely, and professional service while preparing beverages for guests and servers following recipes and guidelines in a cost-efficient manner.
You will ensure compliance with all liquor laws in the preparation, serving, and consumption of alcoholic beverages.
Key responsibilities
- Exceed guest expectations and assist bartenders with all steps of service to prioritize the guest experience
- Work directly with the prep team and kitchen to ensure the bar is prepared to service standards, including stocking and breaking down for service
- Apply liquor, beer, wine, and cocktail knowledge while interacting with guests and complying with liquor laws
- Maintain personal and financial accountability, control cost and waste, and maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar and prep area
- Maintain knowledge of the menu and food preparation techniques while supporting co-workers and managers
- Be familiar with all food outlets, amenities, general city information, and hotel history as an ambassador for the department and brand
Qualifications
- Knowledge of spirits, cocktails, wine, and beer
- Previous customer service experience required; food and beverage and/or barista experience preferred
- Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities
- Highly responsible and reliable with the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment and focus attention on guest needs while remaining calm and courteous
- Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a small team and independently
- Must have previous experience barbacking in a luxury environment
- Must have previous experience barbacking in a high-volume environment
Nice to have
- Experience in high-volume hospitality operations
- Previous barista background
