About the opportunity
SGS is seeking a qualified laboratory professional for analysis and reporting on various products, including crude oil, fuel oils, middle distillates, petroleum and petrochemicals, and LPG and LNG gases.
This hands-on role involves bench work, equipment operation, and guidance for laboratory personnel.
Key responsibilities
- Perform all laboratory analysis through hands-on work on the bench.
- Understand and keep current with all laboratory safety and reporting techniques.
- Provide guidance to laboratory technicians to maintain proper training levels among personnel, including potential supervisory duties.
- Understand and keep current with all laboratory analysis methods.
- Operate Gas Chromatographs and other laboratory equipment.
- Maintain dependable and reliable daily attendance that contributes to the success of the department.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or a related science preferred, or equivalent work experience coupled with a minimum of one year of direct transferable experience working in a laboratory.
- Valid TWIC card.
- Knowledgeable in ASTM standards.
- Ability to work with all chemical, petrochemical, and petroleum products.
- Ability to differentiate between colors accurately by sight.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to present information and respond to questions.
- Ability to synthesize information into solutions, work effectively under pressure, balance multiple concurrent projects with different deadlines, maintain high accuracy, pay close attention to details, and adhere to SGS standards of ethics and integrity.
