About the opportunity
Our Scarborough, ME laboratory is seeking an entry-level Field Services Technician to join their team. This position is 70% in the field and up to 30% assisting in sample management and as a courier. Candidates must have a clean driving record to be considered.
Key responsibilities
- Collect environmental water, soil, and air samples for industrial and municipal clients.
- Communicate with team members, clients, and vendors, and travel to job sites.
- Maintain equipment, prepare sampling containers, and complete required documentation.
- Collect groundwater using pumps and bailers, use programmable instrumentation for composite samples, and record field conditions with meters.
- Provide routine and technical laboratory support services when not on field sampling assignments.
Qualifications
- High school diploma (Required).
- Associates Degree in Chemistry or a similar scientific discipline (Preferred).
- English language skills (Required); basic mathematical, reasoning, and computer skills (Required).
- Enjoy working outside year-round, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and stand for much of the day.
- Ability to drive up to four hours at a time to sampling sites and maintain a clean driving record.
- Ability to multitask, work in a highly productive environment, and work independently or as part of a small team once fully trained.
Benefits
- Hourly rate of $20 - $22 per hour, dependent on experience, with eligibility for overtime pay.
