About the opportunity
Our Orlando, FL laboratory is looking for a Laboratory Analyst to join their PFAS team. The Laboratory Analyst prepares and analyzes samples with accuracy and precision in accordance with SGS analytical SOPs.
Working both independently and as part of a team, the analyst meets daily production targets while ensuring hold times and turnaround times are met.
The role requires applying basic analytical chemistry principles and maintaining a safe working environment by always following safe laboratory practices.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze samples independently after appropriate training, following SGS analytical SOPs using department-specific instrumentation and analytical methodologies.
- Perform routine operation, maintenance, and calibration of laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Assist with validation and Method Detection Limit (MDL) studies.
- Assist with investigations and the preparation of responses to client inquiries and Corrective Action Reports (CARs).
- Input and maintain technical information to support laboratory functions and operations.
- Maintain a Laboratory Notebook where applicable.
- Adhere to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Chemistry or a similar scientific discipline and 1 to 2 years of experience in analytical chemistry laboratories, OR 4 years of relevant experience such as sample prep.
- Bachelor Degree in Chemistry or a similar scientific discipline and 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in analytical chemistry laboratories preferred.
- Proficient English language skills.
- Basic mathematical and reasoning skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull upwards of 25 lbs on a frequent basis.
