About the opportunity
- As a Server at Kea Lani Restaurant, you act as a hospitality ambassador, connecting guests to delectable cuisine inspired by diverse culture and island home.
- Your detailed knowledge, colorful descriptions, and impeccable service help showcase the passion of turning moments into memories while providing inspired food and beverage within Fairmont and Leading Quality Assurance standards.
- Work tasks are performed both indoors and outdoors, requiring adherence to safety, health, and environmental standards while maintaining an atmosphere of the aloha spirit.
Key responsibilities
- Confirm station assignments, complete daily opening checklists, and follow the Fairmont Kea Lani sequence of service, including welcoming guests, taking orders, and delivering food and beverages.
- Receive and process all guest transactions efficiently and accurately using the POS system.
- Maintain full knowledge of all menu items, garnishes, contents, and preparation methods.
- Adhere to State of Hawaii and EHC food handling safety standards, hotel policies, and emergency procedures.
- Maintain station cleanliness, complete side work according to shift demand, and check with the manager before leaving the shift.
- Participate in monthly departmental sales promotions, communication meetings, and Fairmont Kea Lani's environmental and sustainability initiatives.
- Provide engaging, personalized, timely, and efficient service while remaining calm and courteous to discerning guests.
Qualifications
- High School diploma (or equivalent) and/or vocational training.
- Minimum 2 years of serving experience in a high-volume, upscale, full-service restaurant.
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the English language with good verbal and written communication skills and basic computational ability.
- Ability to multi-task and be detail-oriented in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while working well independently and with others.
- Valid TB Clearance, Maui County Liquor Card, and Food Safety or ServSafe Certification.
- Must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance per Fairmont standards.
- Physical capability to perform constant standing, walking, climbing stairs, and frequent lifting of up to 30 lbs, with occasional lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs.
Nice to have
- Degree in Hospitality or Tourism.
- Previous point of sale system experience.
- Previous fine dining experience.
- Multilingualism.
