About the opportunity
Fairmont Breakers is seeking a dedicated professional to sell, serve, and prepare food and beverages while upholding the property's high standards of guest satisfaction.
In this role, you will take and deliver orders, craft beverages following established recipes and guidelines, and ensure strict compliance with all liquor laws in a cost-efficient manner.
Key responsibilities
- Provide professional, friendly, and engaging service while upholding Fairmont Breakers values and mission statement.
- Maintain extensive knowledge of menus, food preparation techniques, and alcoholic beverages including liquor, beer, wine, and cocktails.
- Prepare basic beverages and cocktails for guests while ensuring personal and financial accountability.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar and prep areas, control costs, minimize waste, and complete thorough paperwork.
- Interact warmly with guests, anticipate their needs, and exceed expectations while remaining calm under pressure.
- Assist co-workers and management proactively and maintain familiarity with all property outlets, amenities, and hotel history.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance and work flexible hours, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications
- Previous customer service experience required, preferably in an upscale or luxury setting.
- Previous bartender and high-volume serving experience required.
- Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic math skills and experience with cash handling; point of sale system experience preferred.
- Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
- Must pass food, beverage, and service knowledge quizzes.
- Must be able to obtain Food Handlers certification and TIPs or Alcohol Safety Certification.
