About the opportunity

Curotec is seeking a mid-level Software Engineer to independently build and maintain intelligent automation solutions focused on Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) in the healthcare industry, with a specialization in computer vision-driven RPA.

In this role, you will own discrete features and automation modules end-to-end, applying strong Python skills with a heavy emphasis on OpenCV, image-based desktop automation, and OCR workflows.

You will also build and maintain browser-based automations using Selenium when required.

You will work with growing autonomy, collaborate across teams, and begin to share your technical knowledge with less experienced engineers.

Key responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain OpenCV-driven automations for RCM workflows depending on image recognition, template matching, document understanding, and visual element detection.
  • Own end-to-end automation of legacy desktop and thick-client applications using image-based control where no API or DOM is available.
  • Apply OCR and document-parsing techniques to extract structured data from scanned EOBs, remittance advices, correspondence, and payer documents.
  • Build and maintain Selenium-based automations for payer portals, EHR web interfaces, and other browser-based workflows.
  • Deliver robust Python automation scripts for RCM processes following team coding standards, and apply AI/ML techniques to enhance automation quality.
  • Ensure all automation integrates with billing software, EHR systems, and healthcare web portals while adhering to HIPAA and healthcare data privacy regulations.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize automations for accuracy, efficiency, and reliability, particularly for CV-based workflows sensitive to UI drift.
  • Leverage Azure services like Azure Functions, Azure Storage, and Key Vault to build scalable automation while maintaining secure credential handling and logging.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of professional software development experience in Python or a closely related language.
  • Strong proficiency in Python programming and hands-on, production experience with OpenCV.
  • Experience with image-based desktop automation libraries like PyAutoGUI and working experience with Selenium.
  • Working knowledge of healthcare RCM workflows and solid understanding of HIPAA and healthcare security best practices.
  • Strong analytical, debugging, documentation, and version control skills using Git.
  • Effective communicator with both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Ability to ramp quickly in a contract engagement and deliver production work with limited onboarding.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Nice to have

  • Practical experience with OCR engines like Tesseract or PaddleOCR, or cloud document-intelligence services.
  • Experience automating applications inside Citrix, RDP, or other virtualized or remote environments.
  • Practical experience applying AI/ML tools such as NLP or predictive modeling to automation use cases.
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to healthcare revenue cycle workflows including eligibility, claims, payments, and denials management.
  • Experience integrating with third-party healthcare software, EHR or EMR systems, and billing software.
