We are looking for a technical leader to fundamentally reinvent how Axon executes data migrations, integrations, and conversions across our Records, Standards, e.com, Gravity, and Vision product lines.
Key responsibilities
- Owns the technical architecture and execution for data migrations, conversions, and integrations across Records, Standards, Gravity, and Vision by replacing ad hoc approaches with reusable frameworks, connectors, and tooling.
- Partners with Product to design and build a modern migration and integration platform including ETL and ELT pipelines, schema-mapping, transformation, data quality, validation, reconciliation, and rollback tooling.
- Leads data solution engineering and solution architecture teams responsible for legacy CAD and RMS data extraction, evidence and case data conversion, camera network and device integration like Fusus, and standards-based interoperability like NIEM, NIBRS, and CJIS-compliant data exchange.
- Establishes common data mapping, transformation, and validation standards across products to serve multiple product lines instead of bespoke pipelines.
- Partners closely with Product and R&D to build, influence, and execute roadmap changes so integration complexity is designed into new products.
- Defines and enforces data governance, security, and chain-of-custody requirements for sensitive public safety and criminal justice data.
- Builds a clear build-versus-buy strategy for migration and integration tooling by evaluating platforms like Informatica, MuleSoft, Fivetran, Databricks, Snowflake, Palantir Foundry, and Boomi.
- Establishes KPIs for migration velocity, data quality, defect rates, and time-to-go-live, and drives them down systematically.
- Builds, mentors, and scales a team of data engineers and solution architects while establishing career paths and technical leveling.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 10 plus years leading technical delivery, integration, or migration teams, including 5 plus years in a hands-on architecture, systems, programming, and build capacity.
- Demonstrated experience designing and building data migration and conversion platforms or frameworks at scale.
- Deep technical fluency in ETL and ELT design, data modeling, schema mapping, API-based and event-driven integration patterns, and data quality frameworks.
- Direct experience with one or more enterprise data integration and migration platforms such as Informatica, MuleSoft, Fivetran, Talend, Databricks, Snowflake, Palantir Foundry, Boomi, SnapLogic, Workato, AWS Glue, or DMS.
- Strong SQL and data pipeline scripting ability in Python or an equivalent language.
- Experience leading legacy system decommissioning and cutover at scale with a track record of minimizing customer downtime and data-loss risk.
- Proven ability to build, hire, and scale technical teams of data engineers, integration engineers, and solution architects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate technical tradeoffs for executive, sales, and customer audiences.
Nice to have
- Experience with public safety, criminal justice, or government data such as CAD, RMS, NIBRS, UCR, NIEM, and CJIS-compliant systems.
- Experience at a data platform, data integration, or data fusion company like Palantir, Peregrine, Informatica, MuleSoft, Databricks, Snowflake, or Fivetran in a technical leadership capacity.
- Experience integrating IoT, camera, and sensor networks for real-time situational awareness.
- Experience building or scaling a Systems Integrator or contractor ecosystem for technical delivery.
- Experience in a company transitioning a services-heavy delivery model to a product-led, tooled delivery model.
